(aka: Aster dumosus) Symphyotrichum 'Hillandschmidt' is a 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a superb, compact form of the US native (Canada south to Louisiana) frost aster, Symphyotrichum dumosum, collected in 2018 in Wilkes County, Georgia, by our former research team of Zac Hill and Jeremy Schmidt. In the garden, Symphyotrichum 'Hillandschmidt' forms a dense 3' tall x 8' wide mound of tiny, narrow green foliage. The entire clump is smothered with a mass of small white flowers, starting for us in early October.
