Polygonatum 'Pacman' is a 2013 Plant Delights introduction...our seedling selection from our earlier Korean introduction, Polygonatum odoratum 'Spiral Staircase'. Polygonatum 'Pacman' is similar to its parent but even more compact, topping out at a mere 20" tall. The nearly round, 2.75" x 4" heavily-pleated green leaves are stacked tightly up and down the purple-emerging, twisting stalk. In April (NC), the stems are also adorned with small, bell-shaped, white flowers. Like all Polygonatum odoratum selections, Polygonatum 'Pacman' spreads slowly by thick underground rhizomes to make a 30" wide patch in 5 years...great in less than ideal shady conditions including fairly dry soils.
