This easy-to-grow dwarf form of Polygonatum humile Solomon's seal is simply charming! Reportedly, this compact selection hails from the alpine regions of Honshu, Japan. Until we grew other forms, we incorrectly assumed that all forms were the same, so we have now named this dwarf clone Polygonatum 'Tom Thumb'. The slowly spreading, pencil-sized rhizome, hiding just under the ground's surface, gives rise in early spring to clusters of diminutive 6" stalks clothed with small leaves. In spring, the stalks hang full of dainty-looking, white bell-like flowers...a great naturalizer in the woodland garden. Dwarf Solomon's seal has "charming" written all over it! Buy your own eraser.
