Iris cristata 'Mountain Girl' is a Blue Ridge Mountain selection of the North American native crested woodland iris. The 6" tall deciduous foliage is topped, starting in late March (NC), with lovely soft blue flowers, each highlighted by a white signal (eye zone) surrounded by a dark blue eclipse. Although Iris cristata is quite drought tolerant, it really grows best in rich, slightly moist woodland soil.
