Iris cristata 'Montrose White' is a selection of the North American native woodland iris from the former Montrose Nursery in Hillsborough, NC, where it was sold without a cultivar name. In 2010, iris gurus Marty and Jan at Joe Pye Weed Gardens christened it Iris 'Montrose White'. The 6" tall, dwarf, slowly spreading patches are topped, starting in late March (NC), with an abundance of small white flowers highlighted only by a bright yellow eye.
