Eleocharis tuberculosa 'Maple Hill' is our 2013 collection from near Maple Hill, in North Carolina's coastal Pender County. Native from coastal Maine and south to Texas, Eleocharis tuberculosa is found in moist, boggy soils. The elegant, evergreen clumps resemble a very fine-textured carex, each forming a 3.5' wide x 10" tall specimen. At the tip of each leaf, you find the "flower"...a tiny, dangling brown pine cone-looking structure. We grow our cone-cup spike rush in a pitcher plant bog, where it's happy as the proverbial clam.
