Dianthus arenarius is a delightful carnation species, which hails from Northern Europe, particularly around the Baltic Sea coast. The evergreen mounds of silver-grey foliage are topped, starting for us in late April with a dense mass of 8" tall stalks of fringed, fragrant white flowers. Dianthus arenarius has been in a superb performer in our crevice garden, where gritty soils provide the needed excellent drainage.
