We love this new ice plant, Delosperma 'Mountain Dew', from the breeding program of plantsman Brent Horvath, that has trialed exceptionally well in our dryland crevice garden. Although it is touted to be a sport of Delosperma 'Fire Spinner', we beg to disagree as it shares no genetics with that rapidly spreading species. Delosperma 'Mountain Dew' instead, forms a very tight, 1" tall x 1' wide patch of small succulent green leaves that is topped for months, starting in mid-March (NC), with large clear-yellow, up-facing flowers, each with a wide white central eye. Delosperma 'Mountain Dew' is absolutely stunning, and has shown superb tolerance to our excessive heat and humidity...something we can't often say about most rapidly-melting ice plants, so Do the Dew!
