Carex kraliana is a little-known sedge, native to mesic (good soil moisture) forests, from Maryland south to Florida and west to Texas. Carex kraliana forms an evergreen clump to 10" tall x 20" wide with medium width foliage, making an attractive foil to both ferns and hostas. Carex kraliana is named after the late Vanderbilt professor and carex guru, Bob Kral, who passed away in 2025. Our 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction is a strain of Mississippi genetics from a collection by Dr. Aaron Floden.
