Carex 'Simply Sabine' is a 2026 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of our 2021 collection of the North American native sedge, from Sabine County, Texas. Hailing from Canada south to Texas, this represents some of the most heat tolerant southern germplasm. For us, it forms a dense semi-evergreen clump to 2' tall x 3' wide. In spring, the attractive flower stalks cascade gently over the mounds of foliage...quite attractive. It is the most ornamental in part to full sun, and in soils with average to good moisture. After trialing it for years, we find it odd that it seems completely absent from the horticultural trade, perhaps because the on-line pictures don't begin to do it justice.
