(aka: Ajuga 'Piotrek01') Discovered by Holland's Piotr Szczésny, Ajuga 'Princess Nadia' is a splendid sport of the popular Ajuga tenorei 'Valfredda' (aka: Chocolate Chip). This small, but wonderfully vigorous ajuga forms a compact, tight 3" tall x 18" wide clump of pinkie-sized foliage that emerges lavender with a pink edge and ages to green with a white edge. The clumps are topped with short, dense spikes of blue flowers in early spring. Although most folks think of ajuga for a shade groundcover, we find that half day sun or very open shade are best. For us, all selections of Ajuga tenorei are incredibly tolerant of heat, humidity, and summer rainfall, and best of all, they don't seed around the garden. We think Princess Nadia is a perfect 10!
