(syn: Yucca rostrata var. linearis) Imagine taking the wonderful Yucca rostrata and making the blue leaves narrower but longer (to 32"). If you can envision this atop a short phone pole, then you can image Yucca linearifolia. This deer-resistant endemic, named in 1995, is native to a very small region of dry, rain-shadow deserts of Nuevo Leon (northern Mexico) between 3000 and 4000' elevation. Yucca linearifolia is surprisingly little known in cultivation, but we aim to change that. Expect a 4' tall specimen in 10 years. The white bell-shaped Yucca blooms are a hummingbird favorite.
