Veronica austriaca 'Florverblue', a creation of Holland's Willem Mieremet, has been a standout in our trials...a much improved version of the popular spring-flowering perennial. Veronica 'Florverblue' forms a rock garden sized clump, drawing the most attention from humans and butterflies in spring, when the 1' tall stems are topped with well-branched spikes of outfacing cobalt blue flowers. The increased size of the flowers, the richness of the blue color, and the increased density and habit are dramatic improvements over its parent, Veronica 'Knallblau'. Since deer and rabbits won't bother Venice Blue veronica, a haircut after its spring flowering period makes it much more comfortable...and presentable for summer.
