This North American native (Canada south to Mississippi) Solomon's seal look-alike is the showiest of the bellwort genus Uvularia. The stems of Uvularia grandiflora emerge from the ground in early April and quickly rise to 18", already topped with pendant flower buds which will soon open to dangling clusters of bright yellow flowers...glorious in the spring woodland garden. Expect a 2' wide, tight patch of stalks in 5 years. We have found the large-leaf bellwort to be very easy to grow and adaptable to a wide range of soil and moisture conditions.
