Teucrium 'Eugen' is a superb hybrid rock garden-size germander, from a 2007 cross between Teucrium ackermannii and Teucrium montanum. The cross was originally made by Germany's Eugen Schleipfer, and the best seedling was subsequently selected and named by Oregon's Edelweiss Perennials. In our crevice garden, Teucrium 'Eugen' is a ground-hugging evergreen groundcover with grey-green foliage. For us, the foliage is smothered in late April with an exceptional show of clusters of rosy-purple flowers. In two years, expect a 2" tall x 2' specimen...truly outstanding.
