Salvia 'Rhythm and Blues' is a selection of Salvia guaranitica, hybridized by California salvia collector, Kermit Carter. In our trials, Salvia 'Rhythm and Blues' forms a dense 3' tall clump of stems clothed with dark green leaves. The flower size, flower count, and compact habit are an improvement over other Salvia guaranitica clones we grow. Salvia 'Rhythm and Blues' is topped with terminal stalks of dark blue-purple flowers from early July spring until frost. We acquired this as a clump former, which our trials show is not the case. It spread exactly the same as other clones, as our four year-old patch is now 9' in width. We think you and the winged companions in your garden will fall in love with this new sage.
