I had tried for years to grow the commonly sold European form with no luck and had given up until I found this growing near the village of Nari on the Korean island of Ulleung (aka Uulong). From spores, we now have a stunning 6" tall x 30" wide evergreen patch in 15 years. The medium green leaves, which look as good in January as they do in June, form a thick patch above the slowly-spreading rhizomes.
