Penstemon 'Midnight Masquerade' is the latest improvement on the dark foliaged beardtongues. This hybrid between two North American natives, Penstemon digitalis and Penstemon calycosus, produces a sturdy, upright, 32" tall x 3' wide plant with dark, black-purple stems and foliage, topped starting late April (NC) with a stunning floral display of lavender flowers. Penstemon 'Midnight Masquerade' is incredibly easy to grow in a wide range of sunny conditions.
