Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle' is an American Peony Society Award of Landscape Merit winner, meaning it's one of the top echelon performers for the garden, which includes having very sturdy, weather-resistant stems. Buckeye Belle peony also won the Peony Society's Gold Medal in 2010, and was named Peony of the Year in 2011. This 1956 Walter Mainz introduction (P. officinalis x P. albiflora) has become an industry standard with 30" stalks of semi-double, glossy black red flowers, starting for us in mid-April...one of the earliest peonies.
