This 1999 fairy wing introduction was discovered as a seedling in the garden of our friend and keen gardener, Judy Springer of Virginia. The short rhizomes of Epimedium 'Cherry Tart' form a slowly-expanding clump, topped, starting for us in late March with 1' tall deer-resistant foliage that emerges with an attractive burgundy flush. About the same time the flower spikes top the foliage with mauvy pink flowers, each highlighted with an inner red spur and contrasting yellow cup. You'll agree that it's a combination scrumptious enough to eat!
