Epimedium 'Making Waves' is a 2003 introduction from Diana Reeck at Washington's Collector's Nursery. Epimedium 'Making Waves' forms a 15" tall x 2' wide clump topped, starting in mid-April (NC), with numerous flower stalks of purple cups, each backed by white sepals. The flowers contrast nicely against the rich green, incredibly wavy foliage, which emerges with a narrow purple border. As the flowers age, they change to nearly white. Epimedium 'Making Waves' behaves similarly to Epimedium x youngianum hybrids and is one of the first cultivars to go dormant in fall. This has been a superb cultivar in our trials!
