(syn: Carex glauca) This rich blue sedge is a recent Emerald Coast Growers selection of the European native Carex flacca that has wonderfully narrow, glaucous leaves that make a delightfully wispy-textured, evergreen, deer-resistant groundcover. Although Carex flacca prefers moist alkaline soils, it has proven to be quite adaptable to a wide range of garden conditions and soil types. Carex 'Blue Zinger' forms a nice 2' wide patch in 5 years...much more clump forming than the straight species.
