(aka: Carex ETCRX01) Carex 'Feather Falls' is a new tri-specific sedge hybrid from Bart Noordhuis and Elisabeth Bisschop of Exceptio Plants in Holland. In appearance, Carex 'Feather Falls' is like a Carex oshimensis on steroids forming a clump that truly supersized. In less than 2 years, our plants have formed a 2' tall x 5' wide fountain of white and green striped foliage. Carex 'Feather Falls' can be used in mass, but also creates a stunning solitary specimen. Breeding with more sun-tolerant species has also opened up more opportunities for its use compared to Carex oshimensis. We find that both moist and average-to-dry soils work fine.
Maintenance: We have found that these may become too dense after 3-4 years and may need dividing. If so, this is best done in winter or early spring.
