(aka: Buddleia racemosa A4T-026) Buddleia racemosa 'Dripping Springs' is our 2019 collection of the virtually unknown US native butterfly bush, that we're pleased to introduce in 2024. It's unknown for several reasons, but primarily because it has a very limited natural range on the south end of Texas' Edwards Plateau. We found this odd, dwarf species growing in light shade, hanging off a short limestone cliff in Hays County, Texas. In the garden, it forms a 2-3' tall, twiggy shrub, clothed in finger-sized green leaves, that also produces an abundance of small terminal spikes of tiny tawny yellow flowers from spring through summer. We're not going to lie and tell you Buddleia racemosa is stunningly beautiful, but it is native, rare, and worthy of conservation. In the garden, it needs a dry, well-drained site.
