Buddleia 'Blue Chip Jr.' is a 2014 release from NC State plant breeder Dr. Dennis Werner. Unlike the original Buddleia 'Blue Chip', Buddleia 'Blue Chip Jr.' is much smaller and flatter, forming a 30" tall x 5' wide clump in 3 years. For us, flowering on this sterile hybrid starts in early June and continues through the summer. The dark, blue-purple flowers are borne on narrow, 6" long spikes, which are quite numerous. This breakthrough breeding has produced without question the shortest blue-purple flowered butterfly bush on the market.
