This little-known species of cast iron plant from a Crug Farm collection in Taiwan, produces 28" long x 3.5" wide evergreen leaves with a few small yellow freckles. Aspidistra daibuensis forms an attractive clump in the woodland garden. At 8 degrees F, the old foliage burned off for us but the plants nicely recovered. The intriguing basal purple and white flowers, which appear in late winter, resemble small, star-like sea creatures.
