Antennaria solitaria is a 2023 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of our Wake County NC collection of solitary pussytoes. This fascinating North American (Ohio south to Alabama) native forms a dense groundcover of grey-green, thumb-sized leaves. The entire evergreen patch is topped, starting in mid-March (NC) with 4" tall spikes of solitary fuzzy balls...the ultimate in odd. Antennaria solitaria is very easy to grow in both part sun and light shade as long as the soil is well-drained. Although it is native in acidic soils, it has performed amazingly in our alkaline crevice garden.
