(aka: Agave schottii CEH2265) Agave schottii 'Making Lemmons' is a Cody Hinchliff introduction from seed collected on Arizona's Mt. Lemmon, where it resides on dry desert shrub-filled hillsides, often in part sun, between 3,500 and 6,500' elevation. Each rosette is composed of rounded green leaves, with silver leaf markings, and sparse white hairs, but without much in the way of armaments other than a single terminal spine. The porcupine-like rosettes offset to form small colonies. Unlike many of the larger species, these usually flower at a much younger age. Unlike many century plants, which are used to make alcohol, Agave schottii is quite bitter, so it's relegated being used to make something to wash your mouth out...soap.
