Virtually all of the Agave parryi ssp. truncata in the trade is the Huntington clone, which will die at temperatures much below 15-20 degrees F. Agave 'Gentry's Blue' is a 2024 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Zone 7b, winter hardy form of Agave parryi ssp. truncata, originally collected by the late Agave guru, Howard Gentry (DSBG 1966-05852). With great age, it will develop 18" tall x 18" wide rosettes, that produce a few offsets once they near maturity. Thanks to Arizona's amazing Desert Botanical Garden for sharing an offset.
