Agave difformis, a close cousin of the more commonly grown Agave lophantha, resides at 5,000-6,000' in Hidalgo and San Luis Potosi States in north central Mexico. Agave difformis forms 18" tall x 2' wide, offsetting rosettes of long, thin green leaves with a large terminal spine and a few smaller spines along the leaf edge. The leaves of some seedlings are often wavy, and some also show a central stripe of muted silver...each seedling varies. Our plants are seed grown from the superb specimen at the Huntington Botanical Garden (HBG 26648) in California, which graciously shared seed.
