(aka: Yucca elata RCH719) Yucca elata 'Hidalgo' are our seed-grown plants from a Randall Hitchin seed collection in Hidalgo County, New Mexico at 4,260' elevation, where it grows widespread along the highway. In cultivation, we rarely see Yucca elata exceed 2-3' tall, but if your grandkids live long enough and still live in the same house, they may see stunning 10' tall specimens. The clumps are composed of multiple 3' wide heads of narrow green leaves, adorned with thinning curly white hair. The 8' tall spike of white bell-shaped flowers are quite the site in spring. Unlike many of the sessile yuccas, each rosette resumes growth after flowering.
