Uvularia perfoliata 'Super Spreader' is a 2022 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of an amazing form of the North American (Vermont south to Florida) native deciduous spring blooming perennial. This woodland member of the Colchicum family (Colchicaceae) forms a dense, shortly-stoloniferous mat of 8" tall, wiry, dusty purple stalks, with each threading upward through the middle of the oval green leaves. Starting in early April (NC), a dangling solitary light yellow flower emerges from the tip of each stalk. In hot climates, Uvularia perfoliata goes dormant by late summer. Our 20 year-old patch has spread to 6' wide. Average to dry woodland conditions are fine.
