Trillium stamineum 'Power Walker' is a 2024 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a superb, fast-multiplying clone of twisted toadshade, discovered in 2015 by Zac Hill and Jeremy Schmidt in Walker County Alabama. In nine years, it's formed a 2-3' wide patch, allowing us to divide and share. Trillium stamineum is a southeast US native, hailing from a small region at the confluence of Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and just into Georgia, where is grows both in sandy lowlands and mesic uplands. In the garden, it's easy to grow, with lovely mottled foliage, that's topped for us in early-mid April with narrow, dark purple petals that twist like propellers as they open, contrasting beautifully with the flat, silver-green sepals.
