(aka: Symphyotrichum grandiflorum A1GA-001b) Aster grandiflorus 'Biscoe Belle' is a dense, dark blue-purple flowered selection of the little-known Southeast US native aster, from a population we explored just east of the Montgomery County town of Biscoe, NC in 2001. The bizarre Aster grandiflorus looks like a clump of arching green pipe cleaners, with the wiry stems clothed in tiny leaves. Starting for us in mid-October, the giant 5' tall x 8' wide clumps burst into flower with a stunning, frost tolerant show of 1.75" blue lavender daisies...a great pollinator plant for late season foraging insects.
