Sarracenia minor, whose native range extends from coastal NC south nearly to Palm Beach, Florida, has long been one of my favorite pitcher plants. The tops of the 1' tall green pitchers are covered by a unique green helmet-like hood with small white "windows" in the curved neck of the pitcher. Sarracenia minor is topped with flying saucer-like yellow flowers in spring, just before the new pitchers emerge. Most new pitcher growth on the hooded pitcher plant is during the summer and fall.
