Sarcococca ruscifolia var. chinensis is the little-known red-fruited sweet box from several provinces in southern China where it can be found hanging from limestone cliffs from 1,000'-7,000' elevation. In the garden, Sarcococca ruscifolia var. chinensis forms a dense 4' tall x 4' wide easy-to-grow mound of green foliage adorned with tiny fragrant white flowers starting in October and then followed by lovely, seasonally-colored, red fruit in winter.
