(aka: Salvia 'BBSAL09001') Salvia 'Rockin' Deep Purple' has been a stellar performer in our trials since 2019, forming a massive 5' tall x 10' wide, non-running clump in our garden...much larger that the typically advertised size of 3.5' x 2.5'...perhaps they measured it in a tiny pot. Salvia 'Rockin' Deep Purple' is a Salvia guaranitica hybrid from Brent Barnes, of the defunct EuroAmerican Propagators. The deciduous clumps of foliage are topped from June through September with hundreds of 7" long floral stalks of vivid violet flowers, contrasted against the black calyx. On a sunny day, we see nearly as many bumblebees as flowers...truly amazing. These can be cut to the ground during summer if they get too large and they will quickly resprout.
