(aka: Sabatia dodecandra var. foliosa) Sabatia foliosa 'White Rose' is a 2023 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a pure white-flowered strain of the typically pink-flowered species, which was originally shared by plantsman John Hummer. Sabatia foliosa is a rare coastal plain native (South Carolina to Texas), found in moist to swampy soils. The slowly-stoloniferous basal rosettes shoot upward to 8" tall in mid-June, when the plants explode with a blanket of silver dollar-sized pure white flowers. Sabatia foliosa grows well in full sun in both a bog and a sandy acidic soil that stays fairly moist. Sabatia foliosa was previously lumped with the short-lived, non-stoloniferous Sabatia dodecandra.
