Rudbeckia 'American Gold Rush' is a Brent Horvath introduction of a disease-resistant selection of the North American native (Ohio through Illinois) Rudbeckia deamii. The compact 2' tall x 3.5' wide patch has hairy green foliage that is extremely resistant to the dreaded septoria leaf spot. The clumps are topped in summer with a show of golden yellow flowers in July (NC). Rudbeckia deamii attracts an array of pollinators, but is particularly favored by a variety of bees. This exceptional selection is the 2023 Perennial Plant Association's plant of the year!
