Pyrrosia lingua 'O Kan' is a little-known Japanese tongue fern selection with thumb-width, cardboard-like evergreen leaves, each horizontally banded yellow and green, and with large marginal protuberances. Due to their pencil lead thin rhizomes, which lay flat on the growing surface, pyrrosias usually occur in the wild as epiphytes, although they adapt well to organic soils, especially when grown on slopes. In colder climates, pyrrosias also make superb hanging baskets.
