Polystichum xiphophyllum is another of the wonderful but overlooked Chinese ferns that we won't garden without. The X fern makes an 8" tall x 18" wide, evergreen, perfectly symmetrical mound of upright, stiff, artificial-feeling, 1' long, dark green fronds. For a small accent in a slightly moist woodland garden...you need an X fern. FYI, we are still searching for X fern II.
