True elegance! Polygonatum kingianum 'Bellagio' is our 2019 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a prolific offsetting selection of the Chinese climbing Solomon's seal. Polygonatum kingianum 'Bellagio' emerges from a thick dormant rhizome in early spring as a round green stalk that stands sturdy to 3-4' tall. As it grows taller, it prefers to climb through its neighbors, using its cirrhifoliate (the old-fashioned way to hook up) leaves. When mature, a stalk can easily reach 9' tall, although 5' tall is more typical for most gardeners. In spring, the leaf axils of Polygonatum 'Bellagio' are adorned with clusters of attractive bell-shaped orange flowers with chartreuse tips...truly an elegant showstopper.
