Polygonatum falcatum 'Nippon Sunbeam' is another variegated foliage selection of Asian Solomon's seal. The 30" long arching stalks are adorned with 6" long green leaves, each highlighted by irregular, creamy yellow, longitudinal striping. The attractive foliage is adorned with up to 50 attractive, dangling, creamy white, tubular flowers in early May (NC). Starting in late August, the stalks are laden with clusters of purple-black fruit (2-4 berries per cluster) that dangle beneath. Polygonatum falcatum 'Nippon Sunbeam' forms an easy-to-grow 2' wide clump in 5 years.
