This 2014 Plant Delights introduction is an amazing selection of Phlox subulata from our 2001 collection in NC's own Caswell Country. There, we found it growing as a carpet of many rainbow colors on a steep road side bank. In our garden, plants from this population have shown an amazingly long bloom time, with scattered flowers often as early as December, but peak flowering in March and April. Both the summer and winter evergreen foliage is quite amazing, whether the temperatures drop below 0F or rise above 100F. Our ten-year-old patches of Phlox subulata 'Caswell Pink Eye' have spread to 5' wide, growing amongst the agave and cactus. Good drainage and full sun are about the only secrets we can share.
