We are pleased to introduce Penstemon 'Kissin' Kuzins', a natural hybrid from Kendall County, Texas, where two lonely natives, Penstemon cobaea and Penstemon triflorus got together one night under the cover of darkness. The result is a seed strain of plants that produce clusters of 28" tall flowering stalks in early May (NC) from a winter basal rosette. Each of the stalks is adorned with tightly clasping, glossy green leaves and lovely outfacing flowers that range from mauvy lavender to cerise pink, each highlighted by linear dark purple markings. Good drainage and plenty of sun is the key to success with these and, in fact, most penstemons. Thanks to Texas plantsman Steve Lowe for sharing.
