Origanum 'Drops of Jupiter' is the latest in horticultural fusion, blending the culinary and ornamental plant worlds. This amazing Hans Hansen/Walters Gardens hybrid takes the foliage color from the golden culinary oregano and blends it with the flowering Origanum laevigatum to create a stunning gold leaf oregano with a great floral show. Origanum 'Drops of Jupiter' has amazing vigor, forming a 2' tall x 3' wide patch in 2 years in good growing conditions. The terminal clusters of violet flowers, which start in early summer and continue for months are held atop 2' tall stalks that arch outward past the actual clump. The flowers are constantly abuzz with an array of pollinators who enjoy sampling the wares. To quote the doyenne of culinary ornamentation, Martha Stewart, "It's a good thing."
