This aptly named xmangave...a hybrid with Agave shawii, Agave x pseudoferox, and a couple of manfredas, would make the red planet proud. A 2017 release from Walters Gardens, xMangave 'Mission to Mars' is composed of 2.5' long, channeled, rubbery leaves that have so many large red spots, they blend together to create an almost pure red leaf...unlike anything you've ever seen. The large, 2' tall x 5' wide, fast-growing clump will be the highlight of any container show and it should have potential winter hardiness in Zone 7b/8a, although time will tell.
