Lilium canadense v. editorum 'Reverend Walker' is an amazing native lily shared with us by native plant guru Doug Walker, who discovered this population in north Georgia's Dade County. Lilium canadense 'Reverend Walker' produces an amazing 5' tall stalk, adorned with wide whorled leaves. Each stalk is topped with branched heads of pendent flower buds. The buds open for us in late May/early June to reveal 7-10 bright red flowers per stalk, each with a prominent yellow throat, spotted cinnamon. Moist, rich organic soils and full sun produce the best plants. Lilium canadense var. editorum is nicely stoloniferous, producing a 2' wide patch in 5 years.
