Hosta 'Zebra Stripes' is one of the most asked about hostas in our garden. This 2009 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction is our hybrid that resulted from a cross between Hosta 'Abba Dabba Do' and our Hosta 'Outhouse Delight' breeding line. The result is an attention-getting 8" tall x 28" wide clump of white foliage adorned with frosty green veins. The clumps are topped with 20" scapes of lavender flowers in midsummer. Hostas from this breeding line tend not to fare as well in climates that have very cool spring temperatures. With good morning sun, the white foliage color holds better, where plants in deeper shade turn green much sooner in summer.
