This is one of our 1997 wild accessions of H. venusta, from 2,400' elevation on Korea's famed Cheju Island. We found this patch of H. venusta in a deep dark forest along the main north to south island road. This collection does seem to have a slightly taller flowering scape than what is typically seen in cultivation. Under garden conditions, H. venusta will make a perfectly formed clump to 10" wide of tiny green heart-shaped leaves...great for a special place in the woodland rock garden. In summer, the plants are topped with proportional 16" scapes of medium lavender flowers.
